The Maybush Inn, Farm Road, Great Oakley, CO12 5AL
The Maybush Inn is a pub we’ve driven and cycled past a few times – notably when doing the Tour de Tendring cycle ride, when the pub is about 5 miles from the end of the 60mile ride.
I’ve been tempted on those rides to drop in for a cheeky half, but have always pressed on to the finish, not relishing the thought of having to remount the bike and get the aching muscles up to speed again after stopping for a drink. Yesterday they were holding a beer festival to celebrate the first anniversary of the pub being saved from closure by being taken over as a co-operative pub operated by the local community. It was great to see locals turning up with plates of food for the beer festival, and we even snuck in on some photos being taken by the EADT!
Do check out the pub, and they are cyclist-friendly!
