buskins400The Donkey & Buskins was getting a good reputation as one of the small number of pubs of the Waveney Pub Co., appearing in the CAMRA GBG, and we visited in summer 2011 and had a nice pint of Cottage Brewery Malt Teazer and a nice lunch in the beer garden. The Waveney Pub Co. went into the receiver’s hands in late 2011, but after only week or two after closing, it re-opened.

Our latest visit was Sunday 5th July 2015, and on the bar were GK IPA, Adnams Broadside, Woodforde Wherry (on tap not in use), and from one of two barrels behind the bar, Old Speckled Hen. A fairly safe choice, and the Wherry had just replaced their own bitter (I wasn’t able to find out who brews it for them). They’ve got a nice big garden, and they’re handily placed for a refreshment stop if you’re off on a bike ride south out of Colchester.
