The 9th Harwich International Shanty Festival took place this weekend, with a wide range of shanty groups performing in a wide range of pubs, including the excellent real ale pubs The New Inn and The Alma Inn.
Most of the events were free, and we rocked up on the Sunday for a drop of Mighty Oak Brewery’s ‘Oscar Wild Mild’ with a group singing in the back bar. Leaving the pub and by the Ha’Penny Pier we heard this group:
We were en route to the Sailing Barge Victor, and had a great 1.5 hours going up and down the River Orwell, entertained by The Kernow Buoys. There was beer on board, but it being a bit parky, we decided on a cup of tea!
