I’m not blogging about real ale much these days, too busy brewing and selling/distributing it. There are blogs going back to 2010 here – please be aware of this when reading them : pubs can change a lot very quickly!

The Live and Let Live, Colchester

A pub that we haven’t been to before, and a Sausage and Beer Festival was the reason for visiting. Great beer and great sausages!

The Fleece Hotel, Boxford

The Fleece Hotel is a 16th-Century coaching inn nestled snugly in the centre of Boxford, a few miles south of Sudbury and several miles north of Colchester.

The Prince of Wales, Stow Maries

After some antiques hunting in Battlesbridge, we headed back home via The Prince of Wales at Stow Maries for a great lunch – definitely one to head for if you’re in the area. And if you’re not in the area, head there anyway!

The Hoop at Stock

We missed getting to their big annual beer festival a month or so back, and so our first visit to The Hoop at Stock saw us popping in for lunch today.

The Hurdlemakers Arms, Woodham Mortimer

The pub is an old one, and is lovely in itself, but the beer festival was in their ‘Mortimer’s Barn’ a quaint, beamed barn – it’s not huge, but just right for a couple of dozen barrels of beer and seating for several people.
