Back in February I spent a most enjoyable lunchtime at The Live and Let Live in Stanway, on the outskirts of Colchester, at their Famous Sausage and Beer Festival.
Not content with running that twice a year, they’ve just added a Pie and Beer Festival, which I of course had to find the time to visit last weekend. Usual set up of about 8 guest ales racked in a handy corner in the lounge. There was footie on the big screen tellybox (Spurs v Liverpool), and nice selection of pies to choose from, supplied by Pye Farm over Saffron Walden way. I went for the pork, bacon and black pudding pie, which was rich and delicious, and a pint of Tring Brewery’s Teak Kettle Stout, which was smooth and rich and complemented the pie nicely (please note correct use of complemented).
