5th Annual Victoria Inn Beer Festival

It was only just over six months since the last beer fest at the multi-award-winning Victoria Inn. Back in November 2014 it was their Future Champions beer festival, held upstairs, with beers from local ‘shed brewers’.

This time around the beer fest was in the courtyard, with 30ish beers chosen to represent both North and South Yorkshire, home counties of Sheena and Andy, who have done an amazing job turning around the fortunes of The Victoria Inn. And who helpfully opened up at 10:30a.m. a few Sundays ago to enable us to maintain the pre-match drink ritual for Colchester United last match of the season, which kicked off at 12:15.

Plenty of interesting ales from which to choose, and tweetwise I noted :

– drinking a @brasscastlebeer Bad Kitty – creamy choccy vanilla naughtiness
– now a @fugglebunny Russian Rarebit and @GreatHeckBrew Apocalypse Brau at @victoriainncol
– at @victoriainncol beerfest @brasscastlebeer hazelnut mild and @geevesbrewery choc mild to start

The Apocalypse Brau was a mix of Great Heck’s ‘legendary’ ‘Yakima IPA’ and their ‘Patrick’ Irish Stout, and was in cracking form, with Brass Castle’s Bad Kitty and Hazelnut Mild not far behind.
